Update...

Week 4ish of owning the Cabby, and another lovely Sunshiney weekend (apart from the dust that I find my car covered in every morning, due to the Icelandic Volcano thingy!), so I thought I'd get a bit more tinkering done...

This weekend it was swapping sidelights and Indicators, to give a US spec runing lights look...

N.B. This is only temporary until I find a donor set of headlights and indictors to have the indicatorsa and running lights in the same unit.

Spent a bit more time cleaning the interior this weekend, treating the leather again to a good condition and another hoover! Also completely cleaned the door shuts, and all around the door seals. De-greasing and regreasing, polishing the sills and detailing the plastic, hinges, bolts and switches. Thanks to Mike at Crystal Clear Detailing for the helping hand, and cotton buds...

Also managed to find the time to fix the drivers electric window, which is a relief and was relatively easy to do. Door was stripped, glass removed. Then the regulator and mechanism was removed, taken apart and everything was cleaned. Put it back on the car, tested it and it worked, so must've just been a clog up of crap or summit had seized, but alls good now.

Trial fitted a front wheel too, as coilovers arrived this weekend. Looks like it gonna need a HEAVY slam

Swapped my old 15" sub, amp and box wiht my mate for a 12" Pioneer Sub, Amp and Box, and once I grab myself a wiring kit, that'll be installed too. Not after massive bass, just something quite punchy to give the standard stereo a bit of depth :)

Will update with more pics and progress as it all happens :D

Cheers for looking!

iPhone Test Blog

Just a quick blog from my iPhone (Test)

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Location:Forge Ln,Stoke-on-Trent,United Kingdom

The car is a 1996 P-Plate Mk3 Golf Cabby. 2.0 8v in Jazz Blue, its a Colour Concept Avantguard too, so loads of factory options :D

Purchased on 24/03/2010 from St Albans (2 owners in the UK - 1 was the importer and then 1 lady owner who I bought the car off)

Originally, the car was in Japan, but shipped here in 2006. Its covered 74,011km by the time I got it home, so 45,988 miles!

First pictures taken this morning, so the car is filthy after the 200 mile journey home in the hail last night.

The bodywork is near mint with no rust at all, and underneath the car looks like its hardly been driven!

First job is a good detail, and then I can get on with wheels, coilovers etc...

It's a daily so not gonna be show condition, but I'm happy :D

Righteo, thought it about time for a wee update.

---

Been on holiday for a week down in Pembrokeshire, the car ran about 1500km in the week without skipping a beat, and gave me chance to give it a good run n blow the cobwebs off.

However, the car got filthy, so I decided to give it a good clean. With the sun out this weekend i decided to strip the interior out, & treat it to a proper clean :)

Carpets hoovered, leather conditioned and all the dash and trim were antibacterialised, and polished, just so i knew it was really clean :)

even sprayed some of that febreeze shiz all over the carpet to give it that nice fresh smell :)

Picked this up from an American car dealer & breaker just up the road, just for a laugh really as i wanted to see what a US plate looked like on the car...

Oh, I also bought these on 03/04/2010

...and some FK coilovers are on order from PSI Tuning (Cheers Pete!) :)

After that, towards the end of April, after another camping holiday, the car is off for a full detail by Mike at Crystal Clear Detailing, and plans for a Vento front end will come early summer hopefully (any one know of a Jazz Blue Vento being broken? Did they even do a Jazz Blue Vento?)

Anyways, cheers for looking :)
