Staffs VW Meet - The Gables (27/06/2010)

After a quick clean, a red hot day and an England defeat in the World cup, the Staffs VW meet was a breath of fresh air... and these 3 photos are worth sharing :)

Bit of an update then guys, just had a week off work so thought id get some bits n pieces sorted out :)

I have had an abcess on my leg so walking has been a right bitch, n the work ive had done is stuff that I couldn't really do myself anyways...

First up, with my car due to be detailed by my mate Mike, at Crystal Clear Detailing, I decided to take the car down to his unit in Crewe, and he inspected the paint work, so we knew where we'd stand when he gets the car for paintwork correction.

At the same time I decided to apply my new 10mm spacers to the front, giving enough clearance between the coilover and inner wheel to lower the car to its lowest point. I could then take the car to PSI for 4 wheel alignment, as it was driving shite before!

I also clocked up a pretty cool milage on the way and took a quick snap at the traffic lights ;)

Then, with my wheels aligned, and a practically bald F/N/S tyre, I decided i'd treat the car to some new rubber, and Toyo Proxes were the choice of the day. A bit of ringing around helped me bag 195/40/16's at £60 per tyre including fitting! Winner!

And with all that, she's driving like a dream! (Talk about driving on rails! :O ) She's also looking a little lower, and sits a lot better than before :)

With a couple of dry spots this week, I thought Id clean, protect and seal the fabric roof too, just to prevent it sucking up too much water when it rains in the future. It doesn't have any problems with leaking but I don't want it too have any in the future!

AutoGlym Fabric Hood protector was the product of choice just as an amateur trail and I'm actually really happy with the results! The roof came out a lot blacker than before, with no marks or streaks, and it repels water like a ducks arse!

Hope you like!

P.S. all the photos are taken with my 2MP iPhone 3G camera. Roll on June 24th and I'll be taking crystal clear HD photos and videos :D

Service & Mats!

This Bank holiday weekend saw the car get a full service and is now running sweet again :)

Car had;

Oil Filter
Fresh 10w40 Oil
Air Filter
Fuel Filter
Spark Plugs

The scuttle was removed, and cleaned of all the leaves & debris that had built up, and the cabin air intake was cleaned and hoovered too as there isn't a pollen filter to replace :S

Date of Service - 31/03/2010
Milage - 78,337km / 48,676 miles

Just need to get rid of the IN02 dash warning now!

Also got some new mats! Plain black fitted mk3 golf mats, with carpet fixings and the VW logo. P/N: 863 VAG 191 8BJ

Would have ideally had matching colour concept mats, but the only set I can find are £100. P/N for future referance is: 1H2 061 230 EA JAU.

Thanks for looking :P

Lows and Wheels! Nothing much to report here, just arch rolling (tucked about 25mm giving loads of rear wheel clearance), coilovers installed and wheels added...

Needs tweaking and a full wheel alignment, but i'll let the pictures do the talking...

Got some 10mm spacers for front and rear. Rears don't need it but it'll help with the stance. The front needs the 10's to cover the coilovers, as the wheels are pulled out at maximum positive camber to clear the struts... Then the whole car will be dropped another inch or so...

It drives tho, and will be at All Types, just needs a little fettling to get it perfect in my opinion. Then needs a full detail, and then the engine can be sorted...

I'm happy anyways :D

New Sounds...

Righteo, so the Bank Holiday has been and gone, and with the rain we had I didn't get as much done as i'd like on the car. I did however give it a good clean, and install this;

I hate wiring on show, so with the hydraulic pump for the roof being covered, it provided a nice neat way to hide all the wiring and keep it neat! And the wires that ran down the sills are all clipped nicely in place to reduce rattles! It's also quite a punchy little sub, so provides some good depth to the standard stereo.

Ignore them boxes in the boot too... It's a heat gun and a drill as tonight i'll be rolling the rear arches, ready for some 16x9" goodness at the weekend, along with the coilovers! :D

This weekend cannot come quick enough, I need some lows!

Update...

Week 4ish of owning the Cabby, and another lovely Sunshiney weekend (apart from the dust that I find my car covered in every morning, due to the Icelandic Volcano thingy!), so I thought I'd get a bit more tinkering done...

This weekend it was swapping sidelights and Indicators, to give a US spec runing lights look...

N.B. This is only temporary until I find a donor set of headlights and indictors to have the indicatorsa and running lights in the same unit.

Spent a bit more time cleaning the interior this weekend, treating the leather again to a good condition and another hoover! Also completely cleaned the door shuts, and all around the door seals. De-greasing and regreasing, polishing the sills and detailing the plastic, hinges, bolts and switches. Thanks to Mike at Crystal Clear Detailing for the helping hand, and cotton buds...

Also managed to find the time to fix the drivers electric window, which is a relief and was relatively easy to do. Door was stripped, glass removed. Then the regulator and mechanism was removed, taken apart and everything was cleaned. Put it back on the car, tested it and it worked, so must've just been a clog up of crap or summit had seized, but alls good now.

Trial fitted a front wheel too, as coilovers arrived this weekend. Looks like it gonna need a HEAVY slam

Swapped my old 15" sub, amp and box wiht my mate for a 12" Pioneer Sub, Amp and Box, and once I grab myself a wiring kit, that'll be installed too. Not after massive bass, just something quite punchy to give the standard stereo a bit of depth :)

Will update with more pics and progress as it all happens :D

Cheers for looking!
